Founded by Gail and Ian Parmel in 1997, ACE dance and music is a Birmingham-based, Black-led, contemporary dance company. Our signature style is rooted in traditional African and Caribbean forms developed through collaborations with other artists, choreographers and musicians and expressed through a contemporary lens. We present professional touring productions, youth and community-led productions, choreographic research and educational excellence with our heart in the local community and nourished by national and international collaborations with artists, audiences and participants.

Legacy Centre of Excellence, opened in September 2019, is Europe’s largest independent Black-owned Business and Arts Centre, which facilitates the need of the local community through the arts, jobs, training and education.
Working to raise the aspirations of the local and the wider BAME community, we pride ourselves on being pioneers of black excellence through creative engagement and business ventures. With partners including Birmingham City Council, Arts Council England and Metro Mayor himself Andy Street CBE, we have built up a strong rapport within our neighbourhood and beyond.
Legacy COE exists to offer great cultural, artistic, economic, youth, educational and business development related activities that uplift and upskill particularly the next generation. We do this by providing the best in events, event space, accessible and affordable workspace workshops and projects that encourage people to come together in a safe curated space, which puts their individual and collective needs at the heart.
